This has the potential to be one of the shortest reviews I have ever written.
Leigh Operatic Society's production of Made in Dagenham at the Palace Theatre, Southend this week was so good I was left (almost) without words.
It is rare that I see a show that is so good it is hard to pick out specific elements or performers for praise, but Made in Dagenham was such a show.
From the period accurate costumes, set dressing, use of projected images on a large screen central on the stage to the characterisations from each and every member of the cast, the mind-blowing singing, synchronised choreography and amazing orchestration, this show was of a West End standard.
From the opening scene to the fall of the curtain at the end, it was an amazing spectacle and a masterclass on being a cohesive company.
Usually at this point I would talk about specific actors and/or songs that stood out for me, but if I did this for Made In Dagenham I would feel amiss because how could I pick out anyone person or song over any other? Every single person on stage, performed at all times and every song was sung amazingly well.
The next show from LODS is to be Monty Python's Spamalot, again at The Palace Theatre, Southend in October 2016.
